The students from the Super 7 Scoopers Blog, St Clair School in Dunedin, have been wanting to talk to some of our students about their experiences during and after the big 7.1 earthquake.
So, today we had a Skype video conference to meet and chat with them. Three of their Year 6 students interviewed four of our Year 8 students (Emma-Rose, Georgia, Lucy, Courtney). They had some interesting questions, and were amazed at our stories. No doubt you'll be able to read what they thought in a post on their blog coming up soon!
Here are a couple of video snippets from the Skype call.
We suggested that the Scoopers listen to this Team Endeavour video created by Izaac, Josh and Tom. The sound and shaking is EXACTLY like in the big earthquake!
One of the questions asked was - what would you miss most in a Civil Defence Emergency - electricity or water? Please post us a comment to tell us what you think, and why.
I would miss water the most. Given that water is the most essential necessary item for survival, it would have to be water. We can cope without lights, heaters, tv and ipods, but we cannot cope without water.
ReplyDeleteWell there's a two part answer to this, my partner says the answer is Electricity (she used to be a teacher). She says that we could heat up water on a camp stove to make sure that it cooked through. Although she would miss coffee. I would miss water more, I think that people can survive the least amount of time without water and I would be worried about people getting sick from unhealthy water! Great post, were studying landforms in class so we will go over this later in the term!
