  1. Interesting results from the survey. A lot of time has been spent on this, good work. With regards to twitter, I don't currently use this but have heard great things about this form of communication from parents who have children in town. They said it improves the communication between school and home and has been great with the earthquakes to let parents know that school is safe etc. I would definitely be keen to use this. Karen

  2. Thank you for your comment and interest in Twitter. Yes, it can be useful if most parents are prepared to join and also accept the cost of receiving texts linked to the Twitter account (around 30 cents each, I believe). Most schools are now linking it to a school Facebook page as well. They post a message (Tweet) to Twitter and 'tag' it to also post on their Facebook page. One problem I see is, that when everyone gets on their cell phones in an emergency, often the mobile system gets choked up, and text don't actually arrive for a day or more! This has happened to me each time, unfortunately. Still, I think it is worth pursuing.
